The Speaker

From fearing five people to speaking around the world.

Public speaking was once one of Nick's greatest fears. Before presenting to groups as small as five, he sometimes became physically sick with anxiety. Through years of confronting that fear, he eventually found his voice and began speaking publicly about his experiences with depression, anxiety and alcohol.

What began as an unexpected opportunity to share his story became a career spanning more than 1,000 talks around the world. Today, Nick combines lived experience, research and practical strategies to help audiences explore difficult conversations, challenge assumptions and make meaningful changes in their lives.

“Nick is an inspirational speaker with a passion for mental health awareness. His ability to connect to a broad audience of all ages and share his personal experiences makes him a powerful and genuine presenter. I would highly recommend Nick as a speaker on mental health.”

“Nick has shared his experience with mental health challenges with our community as a guest speaker, in media and even as part of staff training. His willingness to help shine a light on men’s mental health issues is a credit to him. It’s personal stories like Nick’s that help bring to life the causes Movember supports and we thank him for his generous support.”

Jeremy Macvean, Country Director, Movember Australia

“Kardinia Park Stadium Trust engaged Nick Bracks to deliver the Move Your Mind mental health program to our Staff in amidst the COVID -19 pandemic in 2021. Drawings from his personal experiences, Nick’s presentations were a great combination of relevant data, statistics, and personal stories delivered genuinely and engagingly. The training raised awareness amongst our Staff on what mental health is, how to recognise mental health conditions, and what steps to take to improve our mental health, including where to seek help. By introducing the PERMA model, Nick emphasised the importance of positive emotions, engagement, and good relationships in addition to finding meaning and accomplishing goals in life in maintaining positive mental health and combating daily stress. We also found the Move Your Mind hub, which we had access to, to be powerful and impactful, encouraging us to build daily habits around exercise, mindfulness, sleep, and diet so that we empower our mental wellbeing. The Trust purchased 30 copies of the Move Your Mind book for its employees and trust members for the RUOK Day in September 2021. We feel very grateful for Nick and his mental health insights and teaching.”

“Hi, I'm Peter Chambers . In late 2020, I was a guest on Nick Bracks' podcast series, Move Your Mind. Earlier that year, I'd been diagnosed with Motor Neuron Disease and that diagnosis formed the basis of the conversation that Nick and I had. It was a great experience for me and was really rewarding. Nick used his techniques and strategies from his Move Your Mind series and program to be able to delve into stuff that I'd never spoken about in great detail. I understood myself more from that discussion and was able to employ the techniques that Nick uses into my own life and adapt them. And more importantly, I came out the other end really comfortable with where I was at. And as a consequence, these days, I'm in a really good space. I'm dealing with my illness. It's not an easy process, and I keep on going back to the stuff that Nick and I spoke about and draw from that. So, in summary, I can't speak highly enough of Nick. I urge you all to have a look, get on board and support Nick.”

“As CEO of Yarraville Club, I engaged Nick Bracks and the “Move Your Mind” team to work with my staff to focus on the “well-being” of our staff and assist them with strategies to manage there well-being including the daily life hurdles we all endure. Nick and his team delivered a fantastic program and the feedback I received from my team was outstanding and they commented how caring and open Nick was, how impact the Move Your Mind programs are, and how it gave them inspiration and motivation. I would highly recommend engaging Nick and his team to implement a program that will deliver instant and ongoing rewards and benefits to your team.”

Chris Byrne, CEO, Yarraville Club

“Nick Bracks is an inspirational young man with a huge commitment to changing children and young people's lives. He has been involved with our programme, in one form or another, for over 12 months and has consistently impressed our team with his willingness to learn and grow, as well as the value of the contribution he makes. He has a disarming capacity to transparently "tell all" when recounting some of the poor choices he has made in his life and provides very real examples of how to do things differently when speaking to young people. He has brought many people to tears with his capacity to speak into the promise and possibility that lives in every young person. He provides a very real "roll model" to young people of how to take responsibility and make choices that create the kind of life that makes a very real difference in the world.”

Heather Yelland, Director, Green Super Camp

“Having collaborated with Nick I have seen first hand his dedication and passion for making a difference in the mental health and well being space. Nick is well and truly a thought leader within this field.”

Lachlan Armstrong, CEO, DWS
